2022 Jeep Compass Debuts With New Looks And A More Luxurious Interior

Following yesterday’s teaser, Jeep has introduced the 2022 Compass at the Guangzhou Auto Show.

Looking instantly recognizable, the facelifted crossover adopts a revised grille and new headlights.

While these changes are hard to notice at first glance, there’s no mistaking the new front fascia which features a wider middle opening and repositioned fog lights. The crossover also features a sportier lower intake with rectangular accents.

The Compass Trailhawk is slightly different as it features a unique front fascia with a narrower central opening. We can also see an angled bumper, red recovery hooks and a unique cover on the lower intake.

The exterior changes are minor, but the same can’t be said about the interior as it features a new steering wheel, a redesigned dashboard and a freestanding 10.25-inch infotainment system. We can also see new switchgear, metallic accents and a digital instrument cluster with a 10.1-inch display.

The changes don’t stop there as designers added a new center console, a revised shifter and a new wireless smartphone charger. Thanks to these updates, the 2022 Compass looks more far luxurious than its predecessor.

According to Autohome, the Chinese-spec Compass will be offered with two different engines. The entry-level unit is a turbocharged 1.3-liter that is paired to a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission and a front-wheel drive system. Customers can also opt for a turbocharged 1.4-liter engine with a nine-speed automatic and an all-wheel drive system.

The US-spec Compass will likely follow in a few of months, but there’s no word on specifics at this point. However, it should resemble the Chinese variant and use a familiar 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine that produces 180 hp (134 kW / 182 PS) and 175 lb-ft (237 Nm) of torque.
