Ladies and gentlemen, this could be our first look at the all-new Porsche 911 GT3 RS of the 992 generation.
The outgoing 991.2 GT3 RS is truly a wild thing, but it looks like its successor will push the envelope even further. These are likely the first photos of the next generation 911 GT3 RS, which looks meaner than ever in test prototype form.
We’ll start by addressing the elephant in the room, namely the gigantic fixed rear wing which looks like it was stolen from a Porsche race car. It also looks raw and industrial as it’s obviously not the finished item.
The giant wing is just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to the new 911 GT3 RS’ aero kit. We can also spot huge intakes and outlets in the front hood, a sharp splitter attached to the more aggressive front bumper, front fender vents, as well as a massive rear diffuser that’s almost as wide as the rear bumper.
Combined with wide body kit, the aero package makes the 911 GT3 RS look like a street-legal race car. That’s basically what it is, as GT3 RS models have always had a very close connection to 911 GT3 racers.
Expect the road-going model to feature a naturally aspirated flat-six engine delivering somewhere between 530 and 580 horsepower. Just like the current 911 GT3 RS, the new model will be exclusively offered with a PDK dual-clutch transmission.
Expect Porsche to release the GT3 RS after the ‘regular’ 992 GT3 and GT3 Touring models, which likely means in sometime in 2021. As a result, the new 911 GT3 RS will probably launch for the 2022 model year in North America.
